EARLY CAREER
David charted his career path marrying his passion for media and technology, first as a television and music junkie growing up, then as a concert promoter while at Boston University, and later developing his expertise in copyright law as Policy Planning Adviser to the U.S. Register of Copyrights.
In 1984, David joined the D.C. law firm Wiley & Rein as a partner, representing television networks, film studios, cable MSOs, television personalities, trade groups, and a Major League Baseball Club.
From 1989-1997, David served as EVP and General Counsel of RIAA where he was responsible for business, policy and legal issues facing the recording industry, with particular focus on positioning the industry to best utilize new physical formats and electronic delivery platforms.
